ABOUT MY YOGA
Feel the joy of physical, mental & emotional freedom and de-stress
For me, yoga is the bringing together of our body, mind and emotions. By relaxing our thoughts and worries, letting go our emotions we become less distracted, and are able to give our body a bit more space to move, stretch and breathe. Yoga is about releasing stress mentally and emotionally, allowing the body to move without effort using deep energy centres inside the body - creating a feeling of relaxation, helping us to feel balanced and energised.
My lessons run for 60 mins. I explain the theme we are looking at which may be an emotion, an energy centre, or a particular muscle group. For the first 10 mins I use meditation to calm the mind at the beginning of a yoga practice, allowing us to focus away from the distractions and worries of life and relax. The meditation, postures and flow-movements (vinyasa) are chosen deliberately with the current theme in mind. Towards the end of the session we practice some breathing and relaxation techniques, with 5 mins of visualisation and relaxation at the end.
My aim is to meet you where you are now, and help you feel confident and centred. I am always upset to hear people say they don't feel flexible enough, fit enough or calm enough for yoga. My view is you are always enough, everyone benefits from the practice of learning and I am here to make you the best you. Yoga is about accepting yourself exactly as you are now and find a way to make you feel more centred, stronger, be in control, and improve your mental and physical health.
Yoga is for all, and will benefit everyone, my aim is to help you make it fit to you and feel comfortable for you.
Yoga is more than postures, it is a philosophy based on the Eight Limbs of Yoga - covering our complete approach to life. I was privileged to be trained by Yogachariya Jnandev, a philsosopher and teacher from India who has his own yoga school teaching Sanatan Yoga from his Ashram in Wales.
