Practice suggestions for...

Posture Work (Asana)

Focus on introverting and resting postures such as forward bends, seated and reclining postures.

Breathing (Pranayama)

Use techniques that help us to relax or are restorative:

Diaphragmatic breathing

Lengthening the out breath

Soft ujjayi breathing (slight contraction of the throat)

Bhramari (humming bee breath)

Nadi Sodhana (alternate nostril breathing)

Relaxation

Practice relaxation techniques such as yoga nidra incorporating healing or seasonal visualisations e.g.   White Light healing visualisation or Samhain sensation.

Meditation

Now that the evenings are drawing in it is an ideal time for candle gazing (unless you suffer from epilepsy, migraine or experience problems with flickering lights). Position your candle so that the flame is about eye level and three feet away from you. Make sure your candle is safe and not in a draught which will make the flame flicker.

Samhain - November 7th 2009

The ancient Celts divided the year into summer and winter. The festival of Samhain at the beginning of November marks the end of summer. The festival celebrates the cycle of death and renewal. Samhain is also a time to remember those who have left the world of the living and our heritage.
